Teeth misalignment is a common issue faced by many people, it is something that can really make anyone self-conscious about their smile and dent their confidence in everyday life. When we think of braces, the most common image that comes to mind is the traditional metal wires and large brackets that stick out like a sore thumb when being worn. However, dentistry is forever moving forwards and as technology improves so does our treatment, and here we now have Invisalign braces to treat misalignment of teeth.
Invisalign braces improve the concept in every way, they are less expensive, more comfortable and almost invisible when worn. Additionally, they can be removed for eating and teeth cleaning, and take much less time to work than a traditional brace.
The treatment begins with Dr. Karen Kang using 3D imaging technology to create a blueprint of your teeth and bite, which she then uses to optimize an orthodontic plan specifically for you to realign your teeth. She then sends the imaging data and plan to Invisalign, who manufacture a custom set of acrylic aligners manufactured to fit perfectly using computerized machining technology.
The series of aligners are designed to move your teeth closer to alignment, with each set of aligners worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next set. Each new set moves the teeth closer to that final position of perfectly aligned teeth. Because they work faster than other traditional solutions, most Invisalign treatments last for about a year. They are almost invisible when being worn, giving improved confidence over traditional treatments too.
The final benefit is that they can be easily removed when eating, or to clean the teeth, and because the system works on new aligners to move the teeth further, there are no adjustment visits required, a bonus in today’s busy world.
Correcting misalignment used to be a long process requiring the use of ugly and prominent metal braces, but with Invisalign, you can have perfectly aligned teeth without anyone knowing how.
